Specialized Vado SL 5.0 jerky in Turbo mode

Why is the Vado SL hesitating and jerky in Turbo mode??? Shouldn't it be smooth and faster no matter the cadence??

I think it should be smooth. I was just reading the owners manual today and it said something about making sure the speed sensor is clean? Other than that maybe try a reset to factory settings.

Mine is also jerky in turbo at very slow speeds, like maintaining 2 mph on flat pavement in turbo. I just don’t do that anymore. It does accelerate smoothly from a dead stop at a red light in turbo. It just doesn’t like tottering along holding so much power in check. I’m fine with that. That’s what Eco, Sport, and off are for.

The ride should be smooth regardless of the assistance. It might be the matter of cadence.

If you pedal at at least 70 rpm (70-80 is strongly advisable), the torque sensor at the crank gets clear, smooth information on what the power delivered by your legs is, so the controller can amplify the rider's input smoothly as well. At low cadence, rider's legs deliver uneven input that is in turn amplified unevenly by the motor, and the ride might be jerky.

The TCD display that you certainly own can present Cadence value in one of its screens. Try riding above 70 rpm (it might require downshifting) and see if the jerky impression remains. If it does, you need to visit your LBS for diagnosis. Yet if your SL is brand new, I'd rather attribute your ride impression to low pedalling cadence.
