Slime pre-fill or carry bottle?

So on my old X3 Pro, I pre-filled the tubes with Slime and it saved me on a number of punctures

Now I have a brand new X3 Pro and I'm debating whether or not to pre-fill the tubes or just carry a bottle

I have a small dual stage hand pump, but after just topping the tires off @ 20psi, I realize it will probably take me FOREVER to fill from flat if I had to put slime in after a puncture

I also have a spare tube in my storage bag, but given the way I ride, I'd prefer a quick fix or not having to stop at all until I get to my destination

Just curious if anyone has had any luck with adding slime after a puncture?

Not sure why it wouldn't work to add it after a puncture, but why? That way you have to have a flat, take the time out of your ride to deal with the tire, add the Slime, pump up, which, as you mentioned takes a good while with a hand pump and a fat tire. Then you're still carrying the Slime around in your tube instead of in the bottle and you have an empty bottle to deal with.

Put the Slime in the tube ahead of time, as a preventative, and then, if you get the same puncture, with any luck you never even realize it. Just ride.

Well, I already know it's very effective with the a pre-filled tube, but if an empty tube gets a puncture and I try to fill it after the fact, will it push more of the slime out into the tire itself as I'm airing it up with my slow hand pump?

Just curious if its as effective as having it pre-filled

Reason I ask is because I noticed a little bit of a tire balance issue when spinning stationary after pre-filling

It actually felt fine when riding, so I guess it doesn't really matter

Went for my first ride on the new bike earlier today and it felt great

My first thought hasn't changed. Why not just skip the flat? Yes, the tire will be unbalanced until it gets spread around by riding a little bit. If you insist on adding it after the fact I think you'd have to know where the puncture is and have it at the bottom so the Slime would block leak or else it really could take forever to reinflate the tire.
