Indeed... those things were lots of fun.

What I remember about those generator lights is how much drag it put on the bike. If felt like you were riding with the brake partly engaged.

I had one of those little generator lights in the 1980's in Japan! But the bike was ancient. Maybe it was from the 1970's! Because of the drag, I only used it at night. It also was only bright if I was riding on level ground, and got super bright downhill, and faded away on uphill stretches!

@ebikemom so true! I rode my bike to community college, and work at Pizza Hut. I got off work at 11PM. I was highly motivated to ride hard and fast, otherwise I couldn’t see the road! Fun times!
