Shock replacement on e-bike

Looking for a little advice. The Suntour shocks that came with my ebike (cube cross pro) are garbage. I am an active rider and I find that they are wallowing from side to side, when I’m climbing or of the saddle. Preload adjustment seems to have little effect. Ride quality at high speed (45km) on crappy broken up roads is bad. I want a good shock with lockout, was looking at RockShox paragon gold. Does anyone have any experience to say whether this upgrade would be worthwhile?

Most oem forks are pretty cheap coil spring shocks. First you want to find a front fork that fits the geometry of your bike or you risk changing the handling. Secondly, you should gather some advice on the amount of suspension travel you believe is best for your type of riding. From our experience, a reasonable $400-$600 upgrade should provide the adjustability you want and the road adhesion you desire.

Well Cube themselves seem to put the fork you mention on their bike so it's probably not the worst choice. Double-check the measurements and go for it.

There was higher end model of cube with what seems like (at least on paper) a better fork. I think I probably should have spent the money up front, but here I am so I’m moving forward and trying to correct the situation. Manufacturers make different models for different applications. It seems to me they put the cheapest thing that would work on this bike.

Yeah, thanks for the logical response. I can definitely get an air shock with rebound and damping adjustment and lock out with the same geometry and travel for $500 CDN.
