Shimano SC-E8000 computer fail

Hi all. I have a 2019 Merida E-One Sixty 8000 which I bought new. It is equipped with Shimano Steps. Two weekends ago I went for a ride at a popular bike trail park. Our group stopped for ten minutes for a chat and my bike turned itself off as usual. When I re-started the bike, I was no longer able to select any pedal assist mode. I removed the battery and re-installed with no result. The dealer has told me the computer/head unit display has given up and needed replacing. The bike has done low kms over 3 years, has been treated incredibly well. It has never been dropped and is only washed with a 'mist' spray-head at low pressure when being cleaned. I also had my left hand switch assembly and the battery charger fail in the first year which were replaced under warranty. The bike is now out of the Shimano warranty period. Has anyone else had their Shimano SC-E8000 computer fail?
