Does anybody have any experience with the new Sena Bikom 20 mesh intercom? Multi user mesh network, 0.5 mile distance, 20 gram weight and seems like a big improvement over the Sena Pi and all other products on the market that mount on helmet strap. I currently have a very nice Trek Velocis helmet and need a communication solution that works with it.

Welcome aboard!

If my wife's new ebike gets her riding with me again with any regularity, I'd strongly consider this at $299/pair.

They thought of everything. From the product page, the audio version of "Never let 'em see you sweat":
The foldable microphone adds an extra layer of convenience, allowing you to mute it effortlessly to avoid transmitting heavy breathing sounds during intense climbs.

We just received our Sena Bikom 20s this evening. We didn’t get a chance to go out for a ride and try them yet. We did go to different levels and parts of the house and they worked well. Of course there was no wind noise, etc. we are anxious to try them, but it doesn’t look like we will get out for a ride for a few days.

14 reviews on Amazon that might be of some help:

Seems like the range is somewhat less than the advertised quarter mile.

So today we finally got out to try ours. We road 10 miles with wicked wind. I’m not sure of the distance between us, but definitely less than a 1/2 miles. They worked well; we didn’t have any trouble hearing each other. I loved being able to talk with my husband and him being able to hear me since he typically doesn’t ride with his hearing aids in. In our opinion, based on one ride, they are worth the money.

I'm curious about the Bikom vs the Pi. Any experience or contrast between the 2?
Bikom advertises a bit more use time = 8 hours. Bikom is USD$60 more expensive.

Pi:

My use case is biking, and also skiing in the winter. We also wear ski helmets for biking in winter (warm + dry!), so lots of overlap between the two needs.

Pi is limited to two riders while Bikom allows multiple riders to be in the group communicating with each other. They also advertise greater distance between riders; Pi 1/4 mile and Bikom 1/2 mile. I will be purchasing the Bikon if a few weeks after it warms up a little more in. Minnesota.

This is helpful - thank you. I had missed it was limited to 2 riders.

Will reconsider the bikom as a result.

BTW, I finally got my wife to try out the Sena M1 Evo this past couple of weeks. After some fiddling with the pads, she likes it. She was concerned about the additional weight, but in use that hasn't been a problem for her. We really like being about to chat during the ride and where/when to stop and have me warn about upcoming obstacles. We're riding in Pebble Beach/Carmel/Fort Ord these days, so lots to look at while riding.
The Bikom, if its mesh works with those, would be for guests joining up, if attaching/removing from helmets is easy.

I have read that it does not but you should contact mfg to get confirmation. Let us know what you find out.
Update from Sena… Bikom does not work with any of their helmet’s mesh systems. They operate on different frequencies.
