Seeking 1st E Bike!

In part my main concern is there's not much info out on the Emazing Apollo Plus, though test riding it was amazing. I'd buy it today if i knew more good things about it. & if the shop considers adding puncture-protected tires. Surface Rook & Shred are at ELV Motors also yet no batteries available for another week so i can't test drive yet. Shred Range is 45 miles yet Apollo is up to 100 miles. I've been saving pennies for awhile so I could go as high as 3.5K. Also ELV Motors is the only E Bike shop I've ever been in. Are they top notch? Are there other shops near Stanford U? I'm in Portola Valley. thanks for the help here.

Someone just posted regarding the Apollo Plus which i keep thinking i will purchase. Maybe not...

< My review: have not seen or ridden one, but wildly overpriced. It looks to me to be a $400 regular bike with a mid-motor bolted on.>

& I'm kinda suspicious as well and yet also disgusted if this is what shops do. ELV Motors came highly recommended. Is there anyway i can find out if the above is true? Maybe i need to just go in and bring it up...thoughts? Or just call Evelo for the Delta X...

Yet now i'm thinking to look elsewhere like maybe Evelo Delta X. Others I hoped for are not available til September: Surface Shred, Ride1Up, Monarch, Dost Drop.

Respectfully disagree about the general characterization of the bike as a cheap conversion, the spec sheet you posted clearly shows a purpose built ebike frame with internal cable routing, compare with the BMEbikes Shadow that is $400 less but is a converted KHS pedal bike with the kit zip tied to the frame, nothing wrong with that if the price is right, converting a bike if done well is worthwhile if you want to save money but still get a powerful motor, smaller battery however on the Shadow. The larger battery likely accounts for the higher price of the Apollo Plus as it is typically the most expensive component on an ebike. The other point raised about the brakes, you do usually see hydraulic brakes on bikes at this price so that’s one component you might want to upgrade. ELV have mistakenly included the wrong bike among the photos on the product page, but I would suggest that’s a mistake and the shop and manufacturer need to improve their marketing for the bike.

Can anyone help me understand the discrepancy here?

I don’t have a BBS02 but I’ve read 25mph sounds about right.

You would have to ask ELV for an itemized quote but a gear sensor is a $50 part, unsure what a hydraulic brake set would cost but say $150-200, plus the ebrake magnet sensors for the brake levers $30, and an hour’s shop labor say another $150-200, so your $500 estimate is in the right ballpark.

Who gave you that range estimate on the Bulls? No way a 500wh battery powering a Bosch Performance Speed motor is going 134 miles. Realistically at Class 3 speeds you’re consuming say 20 wh per mile so with a mix of riding speeds and terrain maybe you’ll go 40-50 miles.

So if specs are accurate, Apollo Plus would be: $3000 plus. The Bulls Cross Mover Speed Wave is: $3499 with more reviews. Possibly a better bike? Your input has helped alot. Maybe i'll calm down with a bike before 2021! (Dost Drop is still sweet too.)

I like the Dost Drop too. The BBS02 stator is 20% wider than that on my BBS01, and with higher current from the 48v system vs my 36v, it would certainly be better at hill climbing than my bike. I like the step-through frame, suspension fork, dual battery option, and gear sensor. Just needs a suspension seatpost.
