So I wen't looking for a lock for my new RadRunned. Was hoping a Foldylock (Pedego branded) would clear on the bottom tube on the bottle bosses but it didn't. Don't need something crazy like a Abus so the shop owner said "Check out this crazy seat lock we just got in!". I did see a Seatylock listed when online but thought it was literally a seat lock to prevent your seat from getting kidnapped. The Seatylock combo was around $120 and is one of those link type locks. I decided to try one. Impressions so far. You have to run your seat post extra low because the mount point for the seat/lock combo is tall. The seat itself is the comfort model and has no springs. It also has a cut-out for air circulation and relief. So far the seat itself is pretty comfortable. Not as comfy as the Sella Royal Gypsy it replaced but its acceptable. Will update when I get some more butt miles on it. The seat/lock assembly is all combined and pops out of a holding bracket. The folding lock part takes some time to get used to folding back up but you'll get it down eventually. Lock mechanism works nice and solid. So does the clamp when putting the seat back on.
Bad points. The seat has a bit of play both up and down and a bit of side play from the lock links. Feels like play on a cheap suspension seat post. I have a cheap suspension post so I'm kinda used to it. My 220 pound weight has not had nothing "let go" or shift so I'll see how it holds up over time. Not sure what level of security this lock is but it seems solid enough for my use.
My commute is 14 miles each way. The bike will sit under a overhang on my work building. The bike is garage kept when home. Bringing this up because I'm not sure how weather will affect it. I put a cheap shower cap over my seats anyways. I did notice you can get a different color seat if you want! I got a black one but they sell a nice faux brown leather seat only replacement. Looks really nice I might add! So I'll pound some 220 pound 14 mile commutes and see how this thing holds up and report back.
