Has anyone ditched the quick release seat post clamp for something more secure? After installing a body float I would like to see that it stays there after I return to it. This article has a few ideas. http://www.citylab.com/navigator/2015/06/how-to-not-get-your-bike-seat-stolen/396554/
I was thinking about replacing the seat post clamp and inserting a "security bolt." There seem to be a few options - allen/torx with ball bearing in the middle, a key that inserts a magnetic obstacle, a bolt that can only be removed if the bicycle is upside down, small combination tumbler attached to the bolt head, and/or installing a bike chain from the seat stays to the seat with no slack... to name a few. I don't have another rider to adjust the height with and I rarely make adjustments. I have the smaller diameter body float with a shim... as I would like to use it on a bike with a smaller tube diameter.
As with virtually all bicycle security nothing is bombproof. We intend on slowing down the thief so that he turns his attention to another less secure bike.
