Searching for a folder for NYC / Queens NYC

Hello All,

I'm searching for options to provide a family member.

Requirements
1. Travel from Kew Gardens Queens to Flushing - about a 7-8 Miles (ll-12 km.) a very conservative estimate mile ride each way. This is fairly flat lands.
2. Must be a folder - prefer light weight but ok if I can wheel while "folded".
3. Budget - 1000 - 1200 max

I know the options are limited but was wondering what could work?

Anyone else from Queens or NYC have a recommendation?

I'm in the same boat as you and still yet to pull the plug (mainly due to various nitpicking on my part). I'm actually next to Flushing (East Elmhurst).

I've looked into lots of folders and would go for one with at least a front suspension. Rize Bolt comes to mind. https://rizebikes.com/products/bolt

Others worth mentioning:
- Lectric XP, fairly popular in these parts, price-wise. No front suspension, but good value. I've seen a few running up and down Queens Blvd. I'm eyeing the step thru myself. https://lectricebikes.com/

- If you don't mind a not so well know brand, BPM Imports has a nice powerful folder, F-15 X. https://www.bpmimports.com/shop/bik...ack-fat-tire-folding-electric-bike-with-rack/ (They even have an extra $100 off sale going on).

$1,103
(after discount code "Eunorau")

If i'm not mistaken, the EBR guy doing the review had a little niggle with the responsiveness of the cadence sensor, which made me reach out to Eunorau about how many magnets, and was told 8 (vs the 12 you'd usually find in bikes of these price points).

Ahh Queens Blvd..aka the blvd of death! I used to live in rego park for over 20 years.

saw this today about revel scooters -

I saw the fido full suspension bike that Mikey reviewed in his 2020 full suspension roundup... seems like a good bike for this use case. However it's not shipping to the USA (of course.)

Well Revel just decided to suspend ride share service in NYC due to all these incidents, it seems. Sad state. I got used to seeing their blue scooters all over my neck of the neighbourhood. Matter of fact there's a Revel "congregation" (?) spot a few blocks from me on Astoria Blvd. Always used to wonder who would leave several lovely looking blue Vespas around 😂 before i know what they were.

Anyway, back on topic.

Reached out to Himiway bikes on their rumored 20 incher and was told to "stay tuned, the new bike will be online in August". Most folders are of that size (so i'm hoping they come out with a folder), plus i'm a lard butt :( , and would prefer a bike that could handle 300+lbs with no sweat (which their full size ones do just fine). Might be a bit outside the price range of 1200...but i'm curios.

We have four electric 20" folders. Three are your normal 1.5'-2" tires. One is a fat tire.
For riding in the city, the fat tire is my last choice. It shines elsewhere, but not for a city bike.
