Schwalbe tires off to terrible start

I just bought a Trek XM700+ last month. I've gone 250 miles and have 3 flats. The rubber shows several tiny cuts so more flats are likely on the way. The rubber seems to be very soft compared to other tires. The tires (700x38) are Schwalbe Energizer Pro Green, Performance line, Raceguard, Liteskin. My other bike is a Trek Madone 5.2 with 700x23. I have routinely got 1,000 to 2,000 miles before the first flat on the Continentals I've run on that bike and the rubber seems to be much harder. The Schwalbe's show more tiny cuts after 250 miles than the Continentals did after 2,000 miles.

In desperation I've just put Tuffy liners and while this may make the ride harsh, I hope it compensates for what seem to be terrible tires. Perhaps these tires are part of a bad batch and I've heard good things about Schwalbe tires in general.

Small gravel is often put on our roads in the winter and this seems to be destroying the Schwalbe tires but I never had a problem with the Continentals on my Madone.

I have the same tires on my XM700, so far zero problems.

Hope your liners help. Also you might want to toss some slime in those inner-tubes

I've had great luck with Mr. Tuffy tire liners. I went from getting a flat every 250 miles to none in over 1,500 miles.

There was a defective run of these tires and I think you got one. Have your dealer get some free replacement from Schwalbe. They should be able to get you Marathon Plus's. We have a bunch of these on Felt Sporte's and Schwalbe made good on it. It's not stereotypical of Schwalbe for this to happen, but I guess they had a bad run of those tires.

Followup on Schwalbe tire problem. I contacted Schwalbe Customer Support and they were very helpful. They indicated that the Schwalbe Energizer Pro Green tires I got on the Trek XM700+ used a much softer rubber than other Schwalbe tires to provide increased traction on an ebike, but they recognized that these were not nearly as flat resistant as other Schwalbe tires. He agreed to send me a pair of Marathon GT tires (at a good price). He said these are a new 2017 tire that is very flat resistant, The Marathon GT

I've heard good things about Schwalbe tires and and glad they have helpful Customer Support.

I've been incredibly lucky. I went for a "luxury" tire on my primary bike. Maxxis Hook Worm. But in 3 years, not a single flat on the OEM tires either. (subtract 3 months each year of scarcely ridding in winter) I have had problems with tubes and rubber stems and now exclusively use Continental tubes with steel schraeder stems. Presta available too.
