Running out of battery.....

So I ran out of battery. I biked for 65 miles, around the bay area, hills, and against 10 miles/hour winds on part of the trip back to San Francisco, supercharger2 with two 500Wh batteries. The batteries ran out of juice at 4% and I had to walk the last 2 miles home. Now I am itching to purchase 2 more 500Wh batteries.

From what I remember about your route it's similar terrain to our Sierra foothills town. With a 600Wh battery I get ~35 miles per charge though I have gotten as few as 26miles when my route was steeper (3,000 of climbing). I 'borrow' my wife's battery for longer rides...😉

Well done!

I carry 5 x 557wh batteries - although they are aging Bionx batteries so I estimate I'm getting 450-500wh usable from each - and longest rides this year thus far are 140+ kms (87 miles) with 3500ft of climbs - I calculate I should be able to stretch to the full 100 miles with this setup...

...if I didn't break a spoke and rear rack screw on the weekend past. I'm in the process of building a better multiple battery setup and last weekends lesson learned pushed my schedule up a few weeks - will share when it's built and tested.

Be sure to look up the thread here about carrying batteries - lots of great input and suggestions from members there and based on your success to date with 2 more batteries you will be well over the 100 mile range even with the penalty of carrying the extra battery weight.

Cheers!
