Ruffian update

I posted when I bought a Ruffian eBike, made by Ruff Germany, in January. I had a few issues with it, mostly minor. Front end took a fare amount of tweaking, headlight had an intermittent error, and a lot of the fasteners were not checked for torque by the dealer. I then developed an odd noise in the drivetrain, Bosch Performance Line CX and Nuvinci gearless hub, under max assist and max torque climbing some steep hills. Normal cruising was quiet, I had to take it to the extremes to hear the noise. Never could figure out if it was the motor or the Nuvinci. I didn't have a lot of confidence in the dealer, so kept in contact with Germany. When I sent a video of the drivetrain noise, they forwarded my information to Ruff USA. I got a phone call shortly after that, and they made arrangements to send me a new replacement eBike. With a long distance to the dealer I didn't like, they sent it to a local Trek store with certified Bosch techs. I couldn't be happier with Ruff's Top notch people, top notch company, top notch customer service! They paid for the shop to assemble it, then repack my old bike and send it back to California. Didn't cost a cent to get a completely new eBike. The one I bought had 55 miles on it, this one had 1.1 Quietly cruising in style again!!!!

Just dropping by to see the bike mentioned above. She's ? a beauty, indeed. And the service sounds over the top great. Many (s)miles to you.

Thanks. I had a little trouble with my back this year and that bent over, foot forward riding position was not the best on rough streets. It was my Friday night cruiser to a near by bar that always had live outdoor music, and my Sunday afternoon ride. Both of those changed with the pandemic. The music venue is obvious, but our greenway trail is packed with people getting outdoors. So not the mileage that I expected. Looked at new handlebars that Ruff is making for a more relaxed position, but shipping from Germany is about the same cost as the handlebars. Maybe I'll pick one up this winter.

Too bad about the comfort factor... sounds like you are able to adjust it once normal times return. And what a great Friday Night out bike. Anyone who didn't want a bike that looks like that as a kid probably really needs one as an adult.;)

Pedal forward with lean forward, is a contortionist's 'dream' and an e-biker's worst nightmare. My condolences to your lower back muscles. (probably would be unstable on that ebike, but you could certainly use some LONG ape hangers. ;) )

Well if ape hangers would help they would actually look cool on that, maybe. The crank forward design reminds me of a townie go and those are judged as comfortable bikes. I test drove one but don't remember it.

I can't bend over at all for long, but as long as my grips are well above the seat I'm OK.
