Rover want lower granny gear, 7 to 9 speed?

Wanting lower gearing on a 2022 Rover. Has anybody changed there drivetrain from a 7 speed to a 9 or 11 speed. If yes what was involved. I have done this with some downhill bikes but not ebikes with hub motor.
 
Hub motor shouldn't make things much different. How big a gear are you thinking of?
 
I am pretty sure the Rover uses a screw-on freewheel. You can get ones that are 7-sp, 11-34t. It would take a longer chain. 9-11 speeds are freehub cassettes, not compatible with freewheels. You don't need a greater number of gears, just a greater range of gears, particularly on the low end. The Rover may have a 13-28 freewheel. You would need to count the cog teeth of the smallest gear and the tallest gear. You will likely require a long cage derailleur to hit the tall, granny gear. Good generics cost about $25.
I just installed a 9-43 tooth cassette that has splines and screws on. It is a different animal called an XD drive.
 
I'm using 8 speed 11-42t cassette but upgraded modified G062.1000.DC motor. Chainring is 58t.

At the moment I’m running a 11-34 freewheel 7 speed with a 42T chain ring…just need the lowering gearing for those very steep single track’s….has anybody just changed the freewheel to a 11-36 or? 11-38? if yes how is it working for you?
Has anybody changed there front chainring to a 38T? And how is that working out?

I will sometimes use a 36-t narrow/wide chainring to step-down gearing. I do not know of any 11-36 or 11-38 freewheels. For the ring, you need to order based on BCD.
