Rize batteries questions

Hi , ok we are new to this e-bike thing, have been doing a lot of research on the internet and watching all kinds of YouTube videos and trying to figure out what is good and what is not.

So there are 4 of us, myself and my wife and another couple all 58 and up. We live in the lower mainland of BC but will be moving to Penticton in 2 years and our friends are in Kelowna BC. We were leaning towards the Rad bikes, then with some research came across the Rize bikes. Looking at a reliable bike that does not break the bank.

Now for my friend and me we are planning on the Rize X and my wife at 5’1” would most likely go with the City and his wife with the Leisure.

Now my biggest concern with anything now a days that is battery operated is the batteries. I have totally done away with all my battery operated tools and gone back to corded because I was tired of dead batteries , batteries not holding charge or batteries costing more then what you could buy a new tool with new batteries cheaper then buying a battery or not been able to find a battery at all, so your perfectly good tool is now scrap.

So my question is how long do these batteries last? We are not going to be everyday riders, so that being said maybe having to recharge a battery maybe 30 -35 times a year. How many years are these going to last? Then the next question would be say 5-6-8 years down the road would I even be able to buy a battery for these bikes? What if Rize does not even exist then, are you stuck with a bike that you can not get a battery for?

Thanks

Bruce

Hi Bruce, there's a lot to this battery business. The bottom line though, is that there are some "best practices" and if you follow them (no need to be religious about it), the batteries should last 3-4 years at minimum. I have a RAD battery that's 4 years old now, has been charged hundreds of times, and I have not noticed any down grade yet. Still charges to full capacity, and still has the range it had when new.

The Rize X series bikes use a commonly available battery that several different bike manf's are also using, as well as being available on the aftermarket (like tires). The battery cases are made by Reention, and the model is Dorado. You can research that if you like to make you feel better. The rest of the bike is the same way. There are no proprietary parts on the X series that I've found anywhere which means you should be able to get parts for it from any number of sources for quite some time. I do ALL of my own work, and this was a big factor in my purchase of a Rize RX Pro a couple of months ago. All else being equal, I would buy it again in a heartbeat, as I beleive when working on a bucks spent for bang received, the Rize product is tough to beat.... -Al

Agree with Al completely. Unlike, say a Honda car, Rize is an amalgam of off the shelf parts assembled by a bike distributor. This was key to my purchase. The Rize has LG batteries, good quality And should be good for years. All sourceable should Rize fail. I love my RX, am learning about its maintenance and feel great about my purchase.
