Redshift suspension seat post.

Comfortably Numb

Anyone with one of these want to comment about how they like, or dislike one of these.
I was checking out Kinekt posts and they will not work with my seat height. (the distance from the seat rails to the top of the seat tube) is too short. The Kinekt is too long unless I can live with raising my seat a half inch or so.
I am now also hesitant about the Kinekt. The ones I was looking at do not have any additional springs with them and cannot be returned even if I don't install it. WTF? I can't find anything on what all the spring colours and stripes on the springs even mean. I'm not interested in paying top dollar for one only to have to lay out more for springs I might require. The Redshift post will fit and comes with an additional spring. Thanks. CN

I have them on both of my bikes. They work well for me and are easy to adjust. Seat angle is also easy to adjust. If you position the seat post all the way at the bottom the magnetic adjustment cover may get knocked off. It is connected to the seat post with a rubber band. If the magnet lets go you won't lose it.

Like the redshift seat post can be set to desired ride( up to 240 lbs) it adds three inches to seat height at the lowest point

That is one desirable thing with the RS. It’s shorter than the Kinekt. It’ll fit. I just need to ensure the current seat height is on. If I pick up about a 1/2” (raise seat) getting it closer, the Kinekt will fit. Then I’ll have to decide between the two. The reviews are positive for the Redshift post and lots of riders here swear by the Kinekt.

Could the magnet not be removed? Is it just a cover?

I have the Redshift & Kinekt posts. They both work well but the Kinekt seems a bit more comfortable to me. I'm at or slightly over the 240# weight limit on the Redshift so that may be the reason. The Kinekt has an optional dust cover which I recommend for trail riding. Debris in the mechanism can shorten the life of the bushings. Redshift does not have this option.

As you say, the suspension mechanism on the Redshift post is a half inch shorter than the Kinekt and therefore requires slightly less seat rail to seat tube clearance.

The magnetic plastic cover on the Redshift is mostly for looks and to keep debris out of the adjustment mechanism.

Thank you for your opinions. These are very important to me for selecting suspension seatpost for my Vado SL.

I currently use Kinekt 2.1 for my big Vado. Yes, it comes with springs for all weight ranges. I have found a new Kinekt too expensive nowadays though.
