Rebuilding Vado 4 battery vs buying a new one for $1K

Is there someone who upgrades older batteries from a 2020 Vado ? Or should I just buy one ? Looks like some LBS will sell online and others won't . My current battery only has 150 charges .

I was the first to buy a Bike . Now everyone has them . They all can go farther then I can . So what are my best options ?

Much appreciated

I don’t understand your question.
The battery on your Vado is good for about 1000 charge cycles. You have years to go before you’ll need to replace it. If you need more range, a second battery makes sense. Except for the cost, of course.

Zeeker, as you have a 2020 Vado, please just pay some $10 for the application called BLEvo. It will tell you all the details of your battery, for instance what the effective full charge is not. Then you decide.

Were I you, I would visit a good Specialized LBS and ordered the new battery from the dealer (I now own 3 Vado batteries and rotate them).

Not really.
Specialized says: "300 cycles will degrade the battery to 80% of the original capacity", My first battery is at some 120 charges and it is degraded from 604 down to 517 Wh.

Thanks for the details. As usual, your knowledge is incredibly useful.

I’ll have to check for the details and to be certain, but after about three years, Blevo says the battery on my Vado SL is at 94%. I’ll have to dig deeper to see how that equates to your comments.

That's possible but also check how many charging cycles it has been and what the maximum charge it is.
Note: the Vado and Vado SL batteries are not the same as the "big" Vado batteries operate at really high current.

Thanks again. I’ll check The status and get back to the thread if I have questions. I like geeking out on this stuff, but I lack bike history as I’d not ridden for half a century and don‘t have deep knowledge.

I know the SL batteries are different. Didn’t realize why - current levels. I’d suspected it was because the SL batteries are installed within a sealed tube. Perhaps not that dissimilar as a sealed tube environment may require different battery specs than those for a removable one.

The main battery of my Vado SL has been fully recharged for 91 times and it holds 302 Wh of energy instead of 320. However, I own multiple Range Extenders and discharge them first to protect the main battery (except long recreational rides).

This Blevo is the one I see on the app store ?
