Rear spoke alignment to the rim?

I noticed on the rear spokes they are attached to the rim in a straight out pattern instead of a 270deg attachment like on most bikes. Is there a reason for that being it's an electric hub? The 270deg attachment seems to be stronger when the force to propel the wheel is taken into account. Just curious as to why it's so different.
