Questions about the Spanninga Kendo light that comes with the NCM rear rack

I was planning to order the NCM built rear rack that comes with the Spanninga Kendo light. I can either order the kit with the rack and light or just the rack. I was wondering for the Spanninga Kendo light, how does it turn on/off? Where is the switch or is just on whenever the bike is on?

The kit comes with 2 lights. The rear one bolts onto the rack and is powered by standard AA batteries (i.e. not connected to main 48V pack). The front light connects directly to the 48V pack. It has an on/off switch right on top of the light itself.

No handlebar light controls then. Hmmmm, I am tempted to grab a brighter light and one with controls. I understand the Kendo light is a bit weak in the amount of light it throws?

Correct..you can of course leave the switch in the ON position and then add your own handlebar switch. I considered doing this, but for other reasons I ended up mounting the Kenda light on my handlebar, which makes the integrated switch reasonably accessible. I can't comment on how weak it is compared to others. It came with my bike so I didn't research others but for me it is adequate. I also put another white flashing USB-rechargeable light on the front and a red flashing one on the rear. (the rear light that comes with the kit does not have a flashing option)

The light is not that bright, but it's something and it looks good. I use it by itself around sunset/dusk. Unless you're in a really lit up area, like maybe right in a city, I think it's too weak to use as the your only light when it is dark. I bought the Xanes DL06 as my primary light. It's built like a rock (although the mounts are plastic), it's cheap, really bright and has long battery life. The nice thing is, when it is dark, I use the Xanes as the primary light, projecting out and the Kendo to fill the somewhat dimmer area between the bike and where the Xanes is projecting.
