Anyone having some today?
Do you need to buy more stuffing to deal with the overbuying when turkey shopping?
Just tired of the thought of turkey all week and next week?
Trying to figure out who to dump the carcass on, to ease guilt?
Having an episode after doing a popping corn stuff of the turkey?

No turkey leftovers in this household for the reasons that you mentioned. We're normally not huge meat eaters but decided to live on the edge for TG Day.

I love pot pie. In fact the last two Thanksgiving, we skip it all and go directly to the Smoked turkey pie. Smoking the bird takes enough time, so it is great to just make the stock ahead of time and make the pie for dinner. And we all get some of the little pies for later!

I did not realize turkey would smoke so long to smoke so we had pizza that night! I have ribs perfected to 4 hours on rack and 2 hours wrapped and sauced. Going to try Boston Butt this weekend.

I smoke a turkey or a butt roast for half a day, sometimes an hour or two more when using charcoal. They never get dried out as long as there is water in the pan. My electric smoker is about a third faster ... probably because it has a thermostat for steady heating. @Handlebars great title!

Bump for tomarrow for USA residents. No turkey tomarrow for us. Wife has some exotic chicken recipe she is preparing for Thanksgiving since there are only the two of us this year for some reason. But since it's 2020 I'm pretty thankfull to just be "upright and breathing" as the Southerners say. Wishing everyone a happy and safe Zoom gathering ... BTW Zoom is dropping the 40 min maximum connection rule for the Holidays in the USA ... which I must give them credit for. Next up will be hologram Christmas cards. 😁

I bought a 37 pound frozen range bird in January, left over from the previous year for half price. I had to deal with it last week. Two days defrosting from the deep freeze and then cutting it up VERY CAREFULLY, so I did not need a trip to the hospital for stitches. Took about an hour and now I have 7 pieces refrozen. Will do a leg-thigh (7-8 pounds) in the smoker next week. We talked about Thanksgiving and decided, since it is just two to do only the most favorites: Stuffing and gravy, and a lactose free Pumpkin pie from scratch. All the best to everyone. Next year will be better.

Did anyone try the Zoom with family approach? We didn't, but did a Zoom birthday for an 80 yo friend with about 10 people two nights ago. It wasn't a total fail, but I'll be Da**ed if I would try to teach a classroom of young kids that way. Teachers rock. 😁

We had chicken. :)

Canceled our 3 family gathering just to be safe and we bought stuff at a local grocery store this morning.

Still trying to figure out dinner because leftovers on the same day es no bueno.

We always smoke a turkey. This year my wife decided to smoke a spatchcock turkey since her chickens were turning out so well. Turkey bones are much bigger than chicken bones. After awhile I felt sorry for that poor previously frozen bird with my wife hacking away at it with her clever.

Turned out great, so what do I know!

Wise move.

Electric saw recommended.
