Flash forward to today, electric motorcylces ridden by juveniles have innundated the area so the Sherriff's Dept. has installed a drone on top of the new library in the town center specifically to find the home base of the "kids" riding electric motorcyles and generally wreaking havoc in the community. The Sherrif indicated to me that they use the drone to follow the offenders home as they are prohibited from chasing the kids and possibly causing on accident.

I really like this tactic. Some of the offenders would think twice if they thought there was a real chance of getting caught.

I'm not about to be fooled by the idea that, since police cannot engage in 20+ M.P.H. "chases" because they are "too dangerous," we really need privacy destroying drones to enforce a problem we can't even be sure really exists since the context is vague and undefined. I agree that real enforcement would cause real violators to think twice, but I scoff that the system of ticketing traditional motorcycles (or arrests for worse violations) never worked well enough to demand a need for a new enforcement mechanism solely for electric "motorcycles." Soon we'll have drones over all of our homes with various vague excuses for it like "we can't possibly ticket those kids the same way we ticket gas-powered motorcycles." I for one rode an unregistered uninsured motorcycle without a license, at least a few times, when I was a kid. So did several others in my neighborhood, but I can't remember the "crisis" in the news. This was suburban Fort Worth, Texas where the police would certainly have pulled us over. We're just frogs in a slowly boiling pot. It's been done time and again throughout history.
