Paselec G9 Upgrades n Rides

Swapped out the cranks since the chainring was pressed together. G9 comes with a square taper BB.

Went to a 34t chainring that better matched my intended use.

Found some inexpensive fenders that match the stock color. Only after getting muddy in a brief downpour!

The 34t chainring required about 10 links removed from the chain. The chainline was off so moved chainring inward on crank. The fat/thin teeth on the chainring really hold the chain well.

The 34t chainring vastly improved climbing at the cost of top speed. 13mph is tops for pedaling.

Stock tire (CST Jack rabbit) do great until things get wet.

The mechanical disc brakes work well until steep desents. Had one situation coming down a mountain on pavement where the brakes went away, time to upgrade!

Got out for another ride with a mix of ST and greenway.

The G9 has 150miles and 17hrs on it.

Most recent upgrade was an OVAL chainring. Made a big difference in the pedal stroke, really smoothed it out.

Removed the square taper BB after chasing creaking noises. Turns out the cranks were moving on the taper. Went with a hollowtech II type BB with spline engagement with the cranks. No more creaking and the pedaling has much improved precision.

More on the BB replacement.....

The square tapered BB was doing fine until I started riding single track. The rougher trails plus standing put a load on the crankset. The creaking noise was ridiculous so I removed and greased the square taper. This reduced the noise but the crankset would still pop with changing load. Was just a matter of time and the square taper would be stripped.

Purchased and installed this crankset. The spline cranks are awesome, no creaking and super smooth. Had to change cadence sensor to the opposite side(right) and modify the magnet ring to fit a 1" shaft.

This is perhaps the best upgrade on the bike, and for $35 awesome value.

Fall is coming fast to WNC! Beautiful ride yesterday with about 3 miles of single track.

Beautiful fall day in WNC.

G9 just turned 200 miles. Recent upgrades include Schwalbe Nobby Nic 2.8" tires and a dual chamber air fork.

The wider tires really smooth out the ride!

The G9 has 220 miles and 25hrs on it. The ZTZ dual chamber air fork is getting returned, won't hold air.

Winter is just around the corner! Had a beautiful ride on the Franklin NC Greenway this week.
