Pannier problem

Hi to all, I've been reading the threads on this forum for a while and finally decided to join to offer advice as well as receive it from what is a really useful group. For my first post I'd like to show some pics of my pannier set up on my Giant Quick e+, as this seems to be a big problem amongst owners. I had to resort to this solution as the Metro e rack isn't available anywhere in the UK, same goes for the Mlk top deck rack addition. I also swapped out the cheap and nasty grips and uncomfortable saddle.

I like your setup. I changed out my grips as well. I use Timbuk2 panniers with the MIK top deck. The deck was probably not necessary for the panniers, but it does help with the grocery run using an old milk crate.

I remove OEM grips by putting air pressure in through the small hole that's in the end of most grips. One of the grips slides off right away. Once one grip is off I hold my palm over the open end of the handle bar and add air forcing the 2nd grip off. Done.

I use a small shop compressor for this.

This applies to the 2016/17 set up, I don't know if later models were set up differently. Undo the small (2.5 or 3mm) Allen bolts on the lock on grip and controller, then slide the grip off. You will now need to cut the inner end off the grip you have removed (approx 2 or 3 mm wide) and use that to secure the controller to the handlebars. It is a bit of a fiddly job but worth it to be able to install more comfortable grips. ,
