Pace 500 Cadence Sensor

My brand new Pace 500 is running intermittently in pedal assist mode. (Yes, brand new)
I submitted a warranty claim and after 3 weeks they reply saying it sounds like the Cadence Sensor. So they are sending one, but it may take up to 30 days as they are busy.
Does anyone have some advice / pointers on how to change out one of these things? Or perhaps advice on how to repair/adjust the one that is currently on it? I'd like to do it myself if possible. Aventon recommended taking it to a shop. Again, brand new bike. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like Aventon uses generic cadence sensor, which is a good thing so that you can get one of these everywhere.

Changing it is quite easy, though you will need a crank pulling tool.
Do you have one?
You mention above that Aventon uses generic cadence sensors that are easily acquired. I have a Level and would like to get a spare cadence sensor for it but Aventon is "Out of Stock" (surprise). Have you found a place that sells the sensor that will work on a Level?
