Orbea Gain M20 IWOC help

Hi guys I’ve just registered with you. As an “auld dun racer” age 79 I have succumbed to the dreaded ebike. I was so affronted I kept it from my old cycling pals. But alas with arterial leg probs. The ebike has been my saviour. I’ve even got myself a battery extender. Told my wife it was a new spare bottle!
Now I need some help. I am no wizard with the IWOC and the App. I have no probs in moving from L1 to L3 with a double click each time. I can see the different modes and their colours.
I have probs in going from L3 to L1. I have no idea what level I’m on.
What am I doing wrong. There is nothing in the Orbea Manual to describe this manoeuvre.
Hope you can help.

Thank you for your response. Sadly there is nothing in these threads that can assist. I’ve even had a response from Orbea which is a bit negative and refers me to my LBS. I only want to know the sequence in the use of the IWOC control button that enable me to go down the levels ie L3 to L1.

Sorry.
No orbea experience.
An annoying thing about the yubabike I bought, they expected me to get my questions answered on the yuba facebook page. I'm not giving the security code to my retirement account away to participate in facebook or twitter either. Look who was the #1 twit today! Took 14 months after that inquiry before I bought a yuba, after I upgraded my computer enough to run their promo videos. Great bike, inscruitable communication skills.
One idea new to me on a cell phone I bought, long button pushes do something different than short button pushes. Part of the new control culture obvious to everybody under age 12. I'm age 69. Not in the manual; I owned the phone for 18 months before I found out how to enter a new contact name & #. Totally by accident, the button got pushed by my pants pocket.

With the iWoc one you have to recycle through the modes. In a circular pattern. You must go from L3 to no assistance then back up to L1, etc. Yes a pain in the rear. It is my one major complaint with the iWoc One. I have a Garmin Explore bike computer that pairs with my Gain and has a screen that allows me to go up and down by pushing buttons on the computer screen. Welcome to the ebike world, at 70 I found that my health issues forced me to the Gain. I love it.

Hi Pemberton. If you have a smartphone and use the Orbea app. you can pretty much tell what level you're on by looking at the amount of power you're using. It still requires you to cycle through the levels, but at least you can get confirmation from the level on your phone screen. I have a Gain that also has the iwoc 3 which allows you to go up and down without cycling through but honestly after a while you get used to the iwoc 1.

Hi Solom01 Thank you for your speedy reply. I have the App and I am acquainted with its functions. What I am desperate to find out is the process of going down from L3 to L1, without having to look at my phone.
If in L3 do I have to go to zero and start again thus causing a break in my rhythm. Or do I double tap to go from L3>L2>L1?

Thank you all for your help. I have cracked it at last. Albeit I’m a bit on the slow side.
The IWOC on my Orbea Gain does not allow you to readily go from L3 to L1 or zero. You must disengage from the IWOC completely and start again. As someone says its a pain in the ass. That said I dont have an issue. What I object to is the fact that nowhere in the IWOC manual is this mentioned. I find this a bit sinister? The fact too that Orbea after sales service referred me to my LBS also seems a bit strange. Clearly IWOC and Orbea know it is a weakness in the controls. Now that I know what to do, I am entirely satisfied. I could have saved myself some time and frustration had the two bodies got their act together and displayed clearer instructions in their manuals.

Yup, the documentation is pretty horrid, and it's not just the translated versions...the Spanish version is just as bad. :) I have a flat-bar which has the iwoc 3 and it really does make it a lot simpler. Although I've heard it doesn't work too well, another option may be to get a heart rate monitor and set it up so that the levels automatically change based on your heart rate? I've never tried this, but if it works you wouldn't have to interact with the controller to change levels while riding.
