Or am I just deluded...

Sooo... I got what MIGHT be a deal on an Izip Metro 2011. And of course, batteries are non-existent and rebuilds are pretty cost prohibitive, at least for me, and seemingly unreliable as they require the original BMS to be in good shape with software still intact. So, I'm fairly sure after spending a few days reading on this forum, that many have turned to using different batteries, etc. in place of no longer available parts. My question involves the wiring from the battery to the controller (if that's even a possibility). It has three wires, which I've come to understand is utilized with some BSM boards to handle reverse charging, but can also carry proprietary signal pulses. From what I can tell, it looks like the extra blue wire is most likely simply for reverse charging. Can anyone confirm, or otherwise tell from these pictures if my assumption might be correct? I'd like to use a two wire battery with built in BSM. Would I be able to just wire the positive and negative from the new battery into the connector (actually slightly lower AH (8 versus original 10)? Am I being naive? Maybe I just know enough to be dangerous. I don't know... Pics below show the battery plug from the output side of the BMS and the BMS itself. You can see where the blue (3rd) wire attaches at the same place the yellow wire from the charging port on the BMS. Literally the same spot as shown on the bottom of the BMS (pic #4). So the charging port connector (yellow black red) and battery to controller (blue black red) are the only cables coming from the battery/BMS side of things (pic #6)

Enjoy riding your bicycle unpowered.
Or, if you have a hubmotor instead of a mid-drive, you can buy an entire motor-controller-throttle-brakehandles-paspickup kit and install it. Then a generic battery compatible with that. ebikeling sells the entire kits in the USA.
that 2 wire interface to the hubmotor, green+orange, indicates it is an obsolete motor with one winding. Modern bike motors have 3 heavy phase wires and 3 small pickup wires. Plus maybe a small ground wire and sometimes a temperature sense wire.

I don't think that's a 2 wire connector. It indicates a green wire for one motor version, and an orange wire for a different one, not green+orange. But anyway, yeah I see your point. I checked and it is a 3 wire plug for the motor, whatever that indicates.
