and the rims are machined to super precise tolerances, have a smooth and flat surface, and are thermally isolated from the tires

everyone rides in different conditions and at different speeds but hydraulic discs are a must for me. 20% downhill grades with cross traffic or stop lights in the fog on rim brakes - especially with carbon rims - is a death wish, as are high speed 2000’ descents on windy roads in said fog.
