No Bafang Ultra on Luna's website ?

You mean you can't buy the motor only or they don't sell bikes with ultra motor? Luna Apollo uses it. But many of their products seem like they are all out of stock including bikes.

The appear to have removed the entire listing. Earlier was only OOS, not it appears to have completely disappeared.

This is interesting. There's this message for the Bafang Ultra Magnesium drive: "Note: This item has been archived and may not be restocked."

I've sent them a message inquiring if the item is going to be restocked or if it's no longer being sold. I'll leave another post if/when I get a message back.

I wonder if this is a product discontinuation issue or Luna business issue? Although I can't imagine Bafang Ultra being discontinued in the foreseeable future as it's so popular.

Well, @pushkar being an OEM can tell us whether or not Bafang is discontinuing the Ultra motor. However, as he’s asking about Luna in particular, I assume that the motor is still made available to other OEMs.

Highly doubt it is going away. You can purchase the Ultra from cnebikes in China for under $600. Luna's version (reportedly) had a lighter magnesium casing that Bafang custom made for them. Perhaps that version is no longer being offered to Luna.

Yeah....I can’t see that motor going away anytime soon. Luna may have decided that it’s not worth the extra cost for the magnesium casing.

The Donald Trump of ebike resellers. ( a Justin Elmore quote) Big on exaggeration, but weak on support. No giving back, just profiteering under the guise of being leaders. Batteries are overrated. Ask Neptronix on ES a short time employee at Luna.

As a recent customer, I've had good experiences with Luna support, which I've posted in the Luna Forum: https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/luna-support-has-been-very-good-for-me.33589/

Like with any vendor, you have to know what you're buying. Many things Luna sells are available elsewhere. Some things are Luna specific. Kyle ended up helping me when I picked one of my bikes up, and I asked him about changing the power profile of the PAS levels since even level 1 was too much boost for my taste. I told him what I had read. He said to stick with programming on the Basic tab. They didn't have the USB programming cables in stock and when I asked if the BBSHD cables I could get on Amazon were the same, he said I should really wait for them because he's seen bad cables fry controllers and that Luna tests all their programming cables before shipping. I don't believe he was trying to make a $20 sale with that.

@pushkar and everyone...

I got a reply back from Luna. I'll be posting my recommended question via this link to inquire with the boss as to why.

Looks like "ironhorse" posted the Ultra question before I could. I'm curious what the reply is going to reveal.

Is it just me, or is it weird that this is in the Watt Wagons forum, not the Luna forum?
We were just curious as to why they stopped carrying the ultra and whether Luna's explanation can shed some light into whether there is some specific reason around the motor itself since Wattwagons bikes uses the ultra.

Bull. Anyone can have an issue with the cable. A customer bought a Luna cable and toasted his laptop. I make my own.

Which part is Bull? That Luna tests the cables they sell, that a bad cable can fry a controller, or that Kyle wasn't saying that just to make a $20 sale?

Of course any cable can be bad or go bad.

As for frying a laptop through a USB port, that is really unlikely. All decent laptops have internal fuses on their USB ports that reset themselves (see this and this for instance). It could still be possible to wreck the USB port, but nothe whole laptop unless something else was wrong. It seems much more likely that Bafang doesn't protect their input since they didn't design it to have homemade USB cables attached.
