I was in need of a convenient location where I could gain access to my phone cam during rides without removing my Osprey hydration pack and decided that its shoulder strap could be an ideal spot. I found a holster case that seemed to check off all of the boxes on my list. The Nite Ize Sideways holster attaches to the shoulder strap of the pack and opens from the side which provides much easier access than pulling the device out from the top. It’s really meant to serve as horizontal waist belt mounted holster but I found that it works just as well installed vertically on a 2 ½” pack strap. There are times when I don’t have pants/short pockets large enough to accommodate my phone and I have no room or any desire to mount it to the stem/bars/top tube on either of my bikes. I tested it out on a recent road ride in the mountains and it worked out better than anticipated. I encountered no issues with respect to running interference with either the Osprey’s chest strap, drinking tube or even with my GoPro chest harness and it never did it rub or bother me at all during the ride. The XL version accommodates my BB phone and could also fit other small items as well such as cash, credit cards, ID….
