Newbie, new e-bike

I am new to electric bikes. I want to get back to riding, but being seventy three it is harder to get back in shape.
I converted my hybrid Chinese bike adding Luna Bafang BBSHD conversion. The bike has a Nexus eight speed
rear hub, Brooks saddle, Shimano SPD pedals and generic Chinese components. I plan on getting into shape
and riding the Katy Trail in Missouri again this fall.

Welcome aboard!
Nice clean looking conversion! I've got plans to do a portion of the Katy this season as well.

Nice looking bike, James. I see you treated yourself to a Brooks.

Never heard of the Katy Trail, but now I have. Anyone have any parts of it they would recommend for a one day ride. Maybe put two of them together if close enough.

The Katy or MKT trail follows the right of way for the old Kansas Atchison and Topeka railroad. It traverses most of the state of Missouri for 270 miles between St Louis and Kansas City. almost all of it is scenic and well worth the trip. My favorite single day ride on the Katy is the 23 mile stretch (46 round trip) between McKittrick and Marthasville. The trail follows the river below the spectacular Missouri bluffs and through the Marthasville Tunnel. More information on the trail is available here: https://www.traillink.com/trail/katy-trail-state-park/

If you use a GPS on your bike that will read .CSV or .GPX files, a detailed file for the entire Katy trail is available as a free download here: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/42537

I plan to do the Katy someday. I drove the Missouri trackage in 1983 when it still had rails. Very scenic, not very hilly. Not one train. I grew up 2 blocks from the MKT in Houston, 1956-1973. They were the comedy team of railroads, a laugh a minute.
I can't find anyone that wants to do the Katy, my college friend thinks 180 miles across Iowa is more fun. ? Or 150 miles across Indiana in 13 hours, RAIN, no way Jose'. I average about 8 mph without electricity, drives most bike riders crazy. But I'm still doing it at age 68. Electricity is for days when the wind is >12 mph in my face, which with climate change, is more & more often, even in September.

Yes I did, I really like my Brooks saddle. My favorite one day ride would be from Sedalia, MO to Booneville, MO. This ride may not follow the river, but is fun and scenic with good places to stay at both ends.
