Hi all,

Happy new Stromer ST1x owner here. Was planning on commuting to work, but that'll have to wait. Super happy with the ST1x - let me know if you have questions (I have a few I'll post elsewhere). Only change I've done so far is the velcro strap to keep the battery lid closed, and reversing the handlebar thingy for a more low-profile ride. Looks much better as well:

Welcome to the website and the hobby. Also low energy commuting if that ever works out. I don't drive anymore; not all of us baby boomers are climate flamers.

Had a few - but mostly mid-drive options. Went with the Stromer because it appears to be better for long and fast commutes. Mine is 50 miles round-trip.

I have been sitting on the fence re: buying an ST1X. I had the ST1 Platinum but was kind of disappointed with the batteries, which seemed to wear out pretty quickly.

Questions on the ST1X--I am 66, and one thing I did like about the ST1 was the carbon fiber front fork which absorbed a lot of road and trail bumps. Do you think the ST1X does as good a job with shock absorption using its aluminum fork? Also, I see that the new ST1 that Stromer is now selling has more options in terms of handlebars and stems. Is is possible to get handlebars that give you more of a sweep backwards and allow you to sit more upright (both of my shoulders are bad and leaning over with a more aggressive position becomes painful). I still have my Brooks saddle and Thudbuster LT which I plan to use on the ST1X if I go that route.

Last but not least--I am 6'1". Which size would you go with--the L or XL? Which would give me a more upright seating position?

Hi Steve,

I can't speak to the size questions, but the Stromer site do have references for each size so perhaps check those. Additionally all the optional handlebars seem to more sportier - not less. I'm used to ride an all aluminium road bike so I find the Stromer quite comfortable, but the roads in Denmark are also generally in a pretty good shape.
