New owner of a Lectric eBike

My name is Rick. I have the good fortune of living 40 minutes from the Lectric showroom and warehouse. Last Thursday I visited the place for a test drive. I was then able to pick out a bike and take it home. They have a selection of used and damaged bikes at reduced prices. I was able to locate a damaged bike with no miles on it. The only thing wrong with it was the support leg was broken off during shipping. I have since fabricated a replacement so all is good.

I look forward to learning from those that have lived with their Lectric eBike. I know I've got a lot to learn and hopefully something to offer others.

Peace,

Rick

Welcome Rick and good luck with your bike and ride safe.
Bigal,

Thank you. “Ride safe” is the best advice I could get. I had a close call when I trusted my mirror too much. What a wake up call.

My daughter is a very serious bicycle rider and she suggested that I buy a Cygolite Metro Plus 800 & Hotshot Pro 150 Bicycle Light Combo Set. Oh well, it is a matter of my safety. I haven't give in to buying a better seat but I'll be dropping almost $100 on these lights.

I hope you find that they are a quality machine and will perform as well for you as the thousands who are currently happy owners. I still find it hard to believe people pay several thousand dollars for what seems like very minor differences in features or perceived quality of other brands. I can practically guarantee you'll be thrilled by your purchase.

Wow, how fortunate for you to be able to test ride a Lectric. I would love to have that opportunity.
Please post your adventures.
Many fun miles to you.

Draver,

Talk about a zero risk guarantee ;-) ! I agree with you on all points. I can add to this that the test ride and interactions with the staff have been first rate too.

Marci Jo,

The test ride locked in the sale. It took a few seconds to steady myself on the bike because I'm not used to small wide tires on a small frame. But then it all clicked. Of equal value to me was going into the warehouse to see the used and broken bikes. Plenty to choose from and was able to take it home immediately. I'd say there were maybe 20 used bikes and 5 broken bikes. That isn't bad given how many they have sold.

I own a Honda Fit. After flipping up the back seats, the folded bike easily rolled in. I did secure it with a rope before driving home. I would not want to dead-lift the bike into a trunk.

In this time of COVID, my world consists mostly of going to the YMCA and to a small retail area. Both of these places are on the other side of an impossible hill. I once rode up this hill on my touring bike, about 20 years ago. My heart rate at the top was 200. Needless to say, my doctor said to never do that again. With my XP, I sail up this hill as if it wasn't there. The display says I am running at the 20 amp limit and I go about 15 MPH while on the hill. It is an 8 minute ride to either location.

My most important lesson has been how to cross Chandler Blvd. It is 4 lanes and cars often go above 55 MPH. Especially at the bottom of the impossible hill, it is hard to see these speeders until they are rather close because the road also curves slightly. My solution is to position my bike perpendicular to the road so I can clearly see all lanes. Then, when the coast is clear, I use my throttle to get across quickly. When I was parallel to the road and trusted my mirror, I almost got T-boned as I crossed. What a wake up call!

In about two weeks, a new multi-use path will open. One end of it is 0.6 miles from my house. The path has desert on one side as far as you can see. It is the Gila River Indian Community. On the other side is a new superhighway so, sadly, will be noisy. The path is 20 feet wide and goes for about 9 miles with no street crossing it. I'm sure it will be a great place to ride but will also be very busy in the early morning.

May you be health and sane.

How fun Rick!
I'm impressed your bike fits in a Honda Fit. It's a small vehicle but maybe that's why Honda name it Fit, because everything fits!

Ebikes are a blast going up hills. Sometimes I deliberately pick my route to ride as many hills as possible. My friends with non-powered bikes give me strange looks when I say that.

Oh, and a great safety accessory is a bright light. If your bike didn't come with one try to get one. It really helps to have drivers see you especially with all the texters still out there.

Hey Marci jo, you’re very fortunate that you bike will fit into your vehicle; and your friends must be envious of your bikes capabilities. Good luck and ride safe.

Marci jo,

I've owned my Honda Fit for 7 years and never once thought about the name. I'm sure you are right. With so many different seat configurations, it is easy to find one that will work. It is a bit challenging to put the bike in back of the front seats because I must first lift the bike up, clear the curved part of the door frame with the tires, and then lower it to the floor.

As I explain it, all of my hills are now flat. Where it is flat, I use a maximum of 2 amps.

I just installed a Cygolite Metro Plus (800 lumens) on the front and a Cryolite Hotshot Pro (150 lumens) on the back. Hopefully they will make me more visible.

Peace,

Rick
