New Lafree Chain issue

Hi all, I had to change my new Giant Lafree+2 e bike’s chain, due to chain recurring slipping and finally a bent chain. The Giant dealer changed the KMC 8 to. Shimano 6/7/8 Hg40. I went for a short ride and felt like I had to use more pedal power. I use the bike for week end long distance rides on bike paths. How often shouldI lubricate the chain.Any particular lubricant ?

Surprised you didn't have to change the cassette. Recurring slippage would indicate more than a chain issue. I clean and lube around every 200 miles on pavement, more on packed limestone rail trail. With that regiment, I get 2,500 miles to a chain and have yet to change a cassette that has 5,100 miles on it.

I've been a big fan of White-Lightning wax based lube for many years. My local WalMart stocks it along with other fine White-Lightning products!

Selecting a chain lube borders on a religion for some. I also use White Lightning though TEST RESULTS and other posts speak very highly of the Rock 'N Roll Gold product. YRMV.
