New 2022 Vado 5

Just saw a review on this bike. Looks good. New color TCD, new battery and release mechanism. New rear light location.
Any experience with riding out there??

still waiting for a medium size Tero to come to my LBS to try and possibly purchase.

Same here Nxkharra, but I’m watching for the 2022 Como reviews.
That deep step through frame has caught my eye. And of course red color because we all know that red is the “fasterest”.
Looking forward to seeing your thoughts if you decide on the Tero.

My wife and I preordered the belt drive versions in red so we’ll be waiting until supposedly April.
I stopped by my local bike shop yesterday after work and the owner told me he has orders for 9 2022 Vados already (I didn't ask which models) and has also been told he will not see them until April.

We went Red because (aside from it being the best of the 3 colors next year) because it was April in the computer system. Black was August. Global production and shipping is a nightmare.

I saw the new Vado 5.0 Step-Through today, my size (small) red tint. It’s a good looking bike! I didn’t ride it because I knew if I did I would want to buy it on the spot. Some observations: the color is nicer than it appears on my Ipad, as the salesperson said, it’s “Christmas-y.” When sitting on the bike, my feet touched the floor and I had a comfortable lean forward to the handlebars. Not too aggressive and not too upright. The red rear led light is bright and really unique and sharp looking. And the buttons for changing the assist mode and scrolling through the display pages seem to be very well-located. I do think this will be my next ebike, although I might wait and see if I can get the white one.

I am not sure about bike fitting but I think when on the seat, your lower foot should reach the lower pedal with a slightly bent knee and not precisely the floor?

This is my second post on this site but i am recently a proud owner of a european vado 5.0 2022 in red. Whilst Its my first ebike and have no other ebike experience I can give you my impressions after riding it for the past 5 days.
Feature wise Its absolutely a marvel, all the components seem top draw, brakes, shocks handlebars even the grips are amazing. Another feature which might escape you, but is impressive are the mudguards which are really solid and have floppy plastic ends that almost touch the ground which are clever and work really well in the rain. The motor runs really quiet and the options of motor assist being adjustable through an app are perfect. I have replaced the pedals from commuter flats to nukeproof metal ones as it rains a lot here in Wales and I wanted more grip and better quality. Another feature which I like is that it has a sensor on the back to inform me If an object like a car or other bike is approaching me from behind which is really useful on my commute in the mornings- it even tells me through a series of dots and bleeps how near the object is. It is seriously torquey in turbo up until restriction speed is reached and feels like a frisky bull. However when I have reached the maximum assist speed the motor leaves me rather flatlined at the restriction speed leaving me wishing that the assist would take me a bit faster.
I looked long and hard at other bikes and none could match the spec of this bike. Not even the riese and muller bikes at a higher price.
My only gripe with this bike and here is my lack of experience coming into play is, that in turbo mode I can feel a various difference in motor operation through the pedals. I am not sure if this is a normal phenomenon on all ebikes or whether i have a problem, but it can best be described as a slight sensation of clutch slip or something...strangely I still am getting assistance and it isnt anything i notice performance wise but it is a difference in the feeling whilst in turbo mode and not a complete continuous boost until max speed is reached(it feels like the motor is doing stuff).
Apart from this turbo phenomenon I love this bike, I love the feel, the versatility, the build quality and all its features and high spec components. I feel it can do anything.

I have replied it in another thread.
Besides, my understanding is you don't need to use the Turbo mode otherwise than in emergency, against a dramatic headwind or steep ascent. With the 15.5 mph speed restriction, you are hitting the speed limit too easily, and that is completely unnecessary. Riding on the flat with Tero 3.0, I was easily getting at 25 km/h (15.5 mph) in the Eco mode on road. I was occasionally switching to Sport in rough terrain. (The only situation I had to help myself with Turbo was a steep sandy climb).

I call is a slight "hesitation" and I get it on my Creo, too and only in Turbo. Not all of the time just occasionally. Others have mentioned it too.

Not sure if I understand your issue. Could it be that the torque sensor is detecting your power input to match it with proper assist?
Your power input varies and motor is trying to adjust accordingly.
Others will correct me @Stefan Mikes ??

Yes, it has to be that way (it is not only the torque sensor but also cadence sensor, and other sensors such as speed sensor for e-bike, and RPM sensor for the motor). Uneven pedalling (especially at low cadence) is causing uneven motor response. The things are even more complicated. It is a 15.5 mph e-bike, and you are hitting the restrictor speed in just several seconds. After passing 15.5 mph, the motor needs to cut off. All this makes a very unpredictable situation in which the sensors/controller/motor are confused.

With 28 mph (45 km/h) e-bikes, there is a wide speed range where the Vado can settle at some speed, and it is easier to pedal evenly, especially at higher cadence. With 15.5 mph speed limiter, there is somewhat undefined area around the restriction speed, amplified by tremendous motor peak power. My advice to Mike is to stay in Eco, using Sport for harder riding conditions, and refraining to Turbo mode for extreme situations only.

Can always count in @Stefan Mikes to clearly explain things. My US Vado 5 (28 mile limit) does not do this as you explained.
