i have a project in mind to build a trike or big wheel style drifter powered by a front bicycle wheel with hub powered motor and the rear tiny wheels to be go cart type with plastic pipe sleeve. i have seen these in 5hp briggs motors driving the rear axle i have a better idea.. use electric powered front bike wheel with lots of torque and some decent speed.. any ideas and what and where i can get this to suit my needs. maybe a mountain bike motorized hub and a good high amp controller and battery..

thanks to all who reply

That's a neat idea, front wheel drive will probably handle a lot better than rear and one motor vs. two is going to be simpler to install and maintain... probably cheaper as well. The kit that comes to mind is a 500 watt direct drive motor from E-BikeKit that's fairly affordable and very powerful with a solid 1 year motor and 2 year battery warranty. The kit comes in 20", 24", 26" and 700c/29er wheel sizes. Which trike were you planning to use as a base for the kit? Here are all of the other electric bike kits I've reviewed that you could explore. Let me know your thoughts, I'd love to see this thing once you've got it built!
