Need a 48v 13ah battery under $300

None of the Amazon batteries are fulfilled by Amazon. Liability is likely to be the issue . That should be a clue.

What kind of luck have you had with a battery in that price range.

Looking on amazon, the only make I recognize and have experience with is UPP, unit pack power. Mixed luck. I've bought six of their packs including two in 2021. and was satisfied with their quality, but the last one, they shipped me the wrong size and I didn't discover it til well after the return period, They haven't even answered my complaint, so I'm disgruntled with them. Still, if you get the right unit, it should be OK,

Very high failure rates, generic cells, BMS low on features, and cheap nickel-coated steel connectors.
BTW those hailong cases are not much better protection than shrink wrapped packs properly built. But I agree, n00bs should avoid. I have a new one after owning 3 previously. Foam and Bob's your uncle! ( foam wrapped in a good heavy duty nylon bag)
