Good Afternoon,
After doing a lot of research over the last month I have narrowed my search for a step-through e-bike to four selections and would welcome the input of other riders on this forum.
I am in my 50s and have ridden a bike in years. I am a large man and am looking for an electric bike for both fitness and to get around without using my car. I live in a more rural area outside of Washington, DC. The local roads vary from well paved multi-lane to country roads (paved) and some hard packed gravel. There are hills but no mountains that I'd be going up. I'm looking for a bike that can handle pleasure riding on hard surfaces or packed gravel and a bike that I can comfortably ride to the store and back.
My options, in no particular order, are:
Surface Rook - good reviews but its max published weight is very close to my weight. Only a 10am battery
Evelo Aurora - the CVT looks like a great concept but it is at the high, high end of my budget. Only an 11amp battery
Ariel Class C - love the carrying capacity but am concerned that the front platform obstructs the view of the wheel and its heavier than the others
RadCity Stepthrough - mechancial brakes and the published weight limit is below my weight (though there are lots of reports of heavier loads)
I would appreciate any thoughts, recommendations or other things I should consider.
Sincerely,
Kurt
