indeed to pull of the crown race on a fork where there is no slot to put a tool under, I've worked on bigger vehicles before so had a bearing puller at hand. The tools from the bigger bike-tool brands cost around 250 to 300 euro, the simpler version from bike-tool brands are around 40 to 45. A simple bearing puller form the car parts store is typical around 12 to 15 euro, works like charm to pop of a crown race.
I had a chainring that was frozen on last week. I put a long lever on the standard puller, heated it and still nothing. I finally stripped the aluminum threads and had to lever it off. This puller/separator could have helped.
I don't know what it is, but I'll guess. It looks like some sort of flat ream that goes through a small hole. Brake bridges? Brazed seatpost clamps? Derailleur hangers? That's all I got.
its indeed a brake surface reamer, it's made for Postmount interfaces. with the flat rings, springs and a longer bolt it also works just fine on IS-tabs. its called Shuriken
for all bikes which come through "my" workshop I ream these contacts points. It makes adjusting the caliper way easier and basically that should have been done at the paintshop allready...
