My shiny new Radwagon (RadDragon)

After months of struggle I finally bought my Radwagon today! I have named it the RadDragon- Modifications to follow. Tomorrow it gets Marathon Tour "flat-less" tires. There is a bike shop by my place in Renton WA, I am going there tomorrow with a case of beer to make a good first impression.

Due to some back issues and a surgery on my lung , riding either a conventional bicycle or conventional motorcycle is beyond my capability. This marriage of the two technologies coupled with the incredibly reasonable price made this the perfect fix for my transportation needs.

I took off the running boards. They get in the way when walking the bike. When I load this monster up for a camping trip I will reattach them. Took off a couple pounds, bonus.

Bought a Bell Gel cover at Goodwill for 8 bucks. Turns out the Velo Plush is softer without it.

Looks great! One thing to note is that without the running boards, watch out for your pannier hitting the derailleur - I took off the boards on mine, my loaded pannier bent the derailleur so I put the running boards back on. Depends on your pannier though, of course. I was using the RadPower Ballard bags at the time, have since switched to sling sets from http://www.carsickdesigns.com/. They make one designed specifically for the RadWagon, though it's not advertised on their site.

Yeah, I was watching for that but I did end up getting a strap caught in the derailleur, I was chasing after a lost dog and forgot to clip it into place.

Took it our for a 15 mile ride. First the headlight was installed improperly, got my electrician buddy to fix a bent contact pin. Then the derailleur and breaks were making all kinds of noise. Took it to a local bike mechanic (G.H.Y. Renton) he spent about a half hour tuning it. He said it wasn't assembled very professionally. Not surprising after the headlight thing. After the tune up it runs great! Rode it to work today. Saw lots of eagles and made better time than when I take the bus (3 buses each way).

Guy's at the bike shop talked me out of getting new "flat-less" tires right away. They said the Kendas it came with are just fine for now. Go figure.

I got five flats in the first 1,200 miles on the stock tires that came with my ebike. I added Mr Tuffy tire liners (which behave similarly to the extra layer of rubber that's in the Schwalbe Marathon Plus) and haven't gotten a flat in the 1,000 miles since.

Cross your fingers on those tires!

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I wasn't in the mood to argue and had just dropped enough on the bike, spare battery and accoutrements it was easy to pass. Drove trough some glass today, got me thinking about it.

170 miles in 7 days. I got one of those bench seats. I like it better than the one that came on the RW, still hurts my butt a bit. Rode 20+ miles on it today.
