My New Niner RLT e9 RDO!

I just saw that the Kinekt seat post is a complete unit. Not easy to discern from the Kinekt website. Thanks.

AllenO,
Any issues using the Redshift stem with the Niner? Did you need to replace the seat post to use the Kinekt seat shock? Thanks, I’m considering buying them for the Niner I just purchased. Thanks for your help. John
None at all. I transferred it over from my Jamis Renegade at time of purchase (the Niner). Wouldn't do gravel/dirt without it. Re seatposts, I love my Kinnekt 2. Far more adjustable than the others mentioned. I had Thudbuster years ago on a hardtail MTB, and it worked well; but, if you break one of the elastomers (usually by putting on too much preload, you're screwed). I also bought Redshift's new suspension seatpost for my wife. I found it to be too soft, even with the second spring and alot of preload; also, unlike these others, you have to remove the seatpost to adjust it (not something usually doable in the middle of a ride). One thing about Kinnekt 2: don't waste money for the premium carbon seatpost version; it costs $100 more and only weighs 2 ounces less.

Re heart rate monitors, I also don't like chest straps. I use Scoche's Rhythm24. The Rhythm+ works well, too. The difficult thing about arm-based monitors is finding the best location to wear it (re getting an accurate reading of your HR). I had some initial frustration re that, and then it occurred to me to visit Scoche's website and view where they installed it in the photos of their model users. Perfect after that.

AllenO,
Thanks for all the good information. I will take your advice and get the stem and seat post. John.

Hello All -

I posted my first message a couple of weeks ago, right before ordering a Niner eBike. At that time, the ETA was late Feb/early March. Lo and behold, it became available well ahead of schedule. I picked it up this past Monday, Feb 1st! Exciting indeed.

I've attached pictures, which really don’t do the paint job justice; it glistens sparkly green in the sunshine. I took it out for its maiden voyage on Wednesday on an undemandingly flat, paved bike path in Greenville, SC. The power was mostly smooth and intuitive. At times it got a little ahead of me, but that's probably a result of my lack of experience with e-bikes. All in all, I'm thrilled and looking forward to being able to enjoy cycling in the mountains of western North Carolina. I'll report back after testing it out in more challenging terrain.

Niner had a promotion for a free rear rack with the purchase of the bike. I also purchased the front rack and the frame pack. The racks are aesthetically nice; the jury is out on their functionality. The frame bag, while small, is quite nice.

In the meantime, I'm researching my options for updating the display. The Purion display that came with it is extremely basic. I'm leaning towards the Nyon at this point. It does almost everything I want. I'd love to hear other people's experiences with it, particularly with the one that came out recently. From what I can see, I won't be able to easily get heart-rate without wearing a belt (NOT an option), and it won't integrate with my Garmin watch. Bosch's eBike Connect app gets a very poor rating in the App store, and nowhere have I been able to find documentation of the premium add-on that would allow me to customize the bike's power modes, despite seeing it referenced on this site.

That's it for now. I'll update this post as I become more familiar with the bike.
Hi, how do you feel the bike pedals off of the motor? Is there still a slight resistance or does it feel pretty minimal going from say ECO to off?

The bike weighs 40 pounds stock so you notice when the power is off, even on flat ground. Feel is minimal in ECO, though. However, in the higher modes there is a decided ‘resistance’ when you stop pedaling (not “off”, but just not pedaling); even in TOUR, it will bring you to a halt. This is the motor. You wouldn’t feel this if the motor were off.

I just installed the Nyon display/control unit yesterday. Yet to ride with it. I could only wryly smile when I learned I had to pay an additional $5.49 for a software accessory/upgrade to enable custom riding modes (I paid it).

Lol thank you for the ref. point!

Hello. I have just ordered a Niner rlt e9 rdo and I am already thinking of installing a kiox instead of the purion. I see that there are 2 options: passing the cable through the front or the back. Which should you choose? thank you.

Good morning, I'm Manuel, from Barcelona (Catalonia). I have a niner for two months, I am delighted with her performance. I come from an orbea gain that has given me a lot of satisfaction, but I really like climbing and in my area there are many climbs of +12%, with my weight of 105 kg, I suffered a lot when I reached +11%. With the niner, bosch motor, in tour mode I go up almost everything, when I get to +12% I put sport mode and go up to +20%, I use turbo mode when I go to work by bike. I have delimited it with the speed box, I have set the limit at 35 km/h, and being able to go over 30 km/h without noticing that the bike slows you down. But I had a serious problem with the schwalbe rims, on the second trip with the tubeless rear wheel, the wheel blew out and I almost fell, I put on WTB tyres. greetings from catalonia

Bike looks great, Manuel. Greetings from Seattle. Did you keep the same size tires when you switched? I bought an RLT last summer and am thinking of switching up the tires as well (partially, I admit, just for the aesthetics of a tan sidewall). We visited your lovely city just before the pandemic, and got to see Messi play a Champions League match in Camp Nou. What a dream! Cheers.
