Looking to replace my current helmet and considering something like Bern Brentwood so I could get a winter liner and also use it when skiing.

Does anyone have experience with these? Are they cool enough on hot days?

Good looking helmet, highly rated and on sale at REI.

I have a Bern and it's a great looking lid. It's not that cool on hot days as it lacks a lot of the venting that normal road helmets have. It is awesome in cooler weather with the winter liner however

I fianlly ended up with a Bern Brentwood. I really liked the idea of the Allston but I found it didn't fit my head. I thought I had discovered that Bern changed their sizing between 2013 and 2014, but I think it is just the liners that changed. And that was so they could have less combinations. The 2014 liners get tighter so they can market a XXL/XXXL instead of XXL and XXXL separately.

The Allston I think fits a rounder head perhaps than mine. The Brentwood (XXL/XXXL) fits perfectly. As far as ventilation, the Brentwood is very well ventilated when moving. I do notice some heat build up when I stop. No idea how this would compare to an Allston. It doesn't feel much hotter than my old traditional helmet, is way more comfortable, and now I am set for the colder days to come. I always liked the look of the Brentwood better anyway, and it will look more at home on the ski hill than an Allston.

I got a great deal at REI for the winter version. I wasn't expecting it to come with a summer and winter liner, so the sale was an especially good deal.
