Motor voltage question

I have a 36 volt 500 watt motor. If I upgrade my e-assist system to 48 volts, would the 36 volt motor work ok with 48 volts?

Thanks.....I just found out my controller can be set at 36 or 48 volts. I did not know that (Says it in the manual). The controller controls the voltage, and the motor does not care what the voltage is....nice.
I am selling a a planetary geared 500 watt motor with 200 hours of use. It is in a 700c wheel with a 9 speed freewheel. I bought a bike with a 26” rear wheel and 8 speed free hub, so buying a new wheel to fit.
Who would be interested in a slightly used 500 watt motor?
