Motor sounds from the Ultra FS

Do any of you experience any unusual sounds from the Ultra motor when under power (pedaling or throttle). If so, how would you describe the noise. I have a sound similar to fine grade sandpaper on metal. It is not real loud but can definitely be heard. It is apparent whenever the motor cuts in and is definitely from the motor. Since I never had a mid drive before I am not familiar with the sounds the motor makes. I have a 750 watt rear hub motor ebike and that motor is silent.

Have you noticed if comes and goes as the motor engages then disengages or does it come and go while the motor is engaged.

Hi Mike. The sound is still there, I have 700 miles on the bike now. The noise is not real loud and has not changed. I guess it bothers me because I compare this motor to the rear hub motor on my other bike and the rear hub motor is very quiet. Bafang advertises the Ultra as virtually silent and I do not find that to be true. Also, my rear hub motored bike has much more pep than the middrive and it also has 750 watt motor. It is 13 lbs. lighter than the middrive but I do not think that accounts for the peppiness. I am just disappointed in the middrive I guess. I did finally realize that if I rode in power level 3 the starting-stopping sound (feeling) from the motor disappeared.

My middrive bike is the 2018 m2s ultra fat.

I would think the Ultra motor (1500W) with the added benefit of the bikes gears would be crazy strong....160nM of power! I'm glad to hear it's still running!!!

Ya, I run all my BBSXX motors at 1600 watts and they're monsters, none of my hub drives are even close. I have a Rad Rover rear hub drive running at 1600 and without the advantage of the gearing it doesn't compare. The ultra is a good tough motor I would guess your tuning is off. My Ultra makes no noises that I've ever noticed but I don't pay a lot of attention to the sounds my motor is making

I actually tried a replacement motor and it was the same. This is a heavy bike (73lbs.) and maybe that is the problem, but I have not seen any feedback from owners of the same bike so I do not know if that is just the way it is or if I have a problem.

I just bought the Biktrix Ultra FS with the new Bafang Ultra motor...they said they ship it at full power.....can I hook a computer up to it and through software adjust parameters and possibly more power?

I just got my Juggernaut FS....and it also makes the sound you described. I only notice it when I stop pedaling and the chain ring on crank is slowing down...maybe it has to do with the one way bearing?

Hi Mike. The sound I am referring to happens when I am pedaling and comes from the motor. The sound you may be talking about is a ratcheting sound coming from the rear sprocket which is normal, though noisier on some sprocket sets than others. You hear the ratchet sound when you are coasting.

My noise is coming from motor.....

I will listen to my motor when not pedaling the next time I am out on my Ultra. But the only sound I recall hearing is the ratcheting noise coming from the rear when not pedaling.
