Magnum & Amego

I set up Amego Infinite, Surface 604 Rook and Magnum Metro+ on EBR's Compare page. Pretty small differences, on the surface. I'll have to look at them, dig around on the forum. Really sucks not having all of them available for a test ride.

Frankly....I think any one of them would be a good bike. I did get the Infinite but I’d probably be more than happy with the other two bikes which were also on my list. Again...good luck!

After I retired from my real job (engineer) I helped a friend run his motorcycle business, I mostly did sales. I would say half the people who came in would try on apparel or helmets, check out tires, test ride bikes etc then they would leave. They would return in a week or more wearing or riding the item and when I ask where they purchased it they would say online, that they had only come in to confirm the size or whatever. I think it must be very difficult for real brick and mortar stores to stay in business.

Absolutely true. Unless you're offering something that can't be bought online..service..custom made items.. you're in trouble. That said it takes a lot of damn gall to stroll in and admit that they were just using you and the store as a showroom. But then the reason my wife and I make most all of what we sell is because we got tired of people standing in front of us with their phones doing price shopping online. Then they'd hold up the phone and want us to price match the item after we'd spent a lot of time showing, demonstrating, fitting and helping them make a choice.

To me personally, Amego is better.

Slightly larger brakes, more power, faster, more torque for climbing, little bit cheaper, etc.
The only good thing about the Surface 604 is torque sensor (although I prefer cadence sensor because I like zippy bike than "natural feel" bike, when I ride ebikes with torque sensor, I really can't tell whether or not motor is actually doing anything) and better front suspension. But Amego has suspension seat post.

That said, I think they're both great.

Watch this video @3:00, when he talks about how little effort it takes to activate hydraulic brakes, he's not lying.
My mechanical brakes required so much effort, it sucked so bad. I know I keep saying this but hydraulic brakes are MUST HAVE.
"...hydraulic brakes are MUST HAVE"
