Looking for my E Bike

Hi, I just wanted to give you a rundown on what I imagin doing with my, Yet to be, E bike, in hopes that people can toss me some ideas. I'm a physically active 70 year old, an experienced cyclist, mostly on road bikes and a motorcyclist. I ride my road bike daily when the weather is good and walk 3 miles a day so I'm not looking at E bikes as a way to "get back into cycling" or because I need the exercise. I see E bikes coming in somewhere between bicycles and a Vespa scooter. What I'd like to do with it is run errands and make a commute to work of about 18 miles round trip. I would also use it for occasional recreational touring with my wife. I do all of my own bicycle maintenance so I apreciate quality in a bike but I also don't want to break the bank. Idealy I would like to find a floor model or slightly used bike because my tastes always seem to outreach my pocketbook. What I have seen so far that interest me are the OHM bikes with the large rear hub motor and some of the Haibikes. The Evo City bikes look interesting as well. I like the idea of a more upright position, sort of like what would be called a hybrid or commuter bike. Stepthroughs interest me as well because I see an E bike as being something that should be comfortable and easy to ride. I like my road bike, and although they make E bikes that are also road bikes, I imagine my E bike as leaning more towards comfort and transportation. The Rad City bikes look appealing at their price point and capability but I think I'm looking for something the next level up, something someone who tinkers in both motorcycle and bicycle mechanics can apreciatet. I really like the idea of the OHM bikes rear hub motor but don't know enough about rear hubs. So much to learn about these thing. I wish there were fewer choices. The search begins.

Looking forward to conversing with you all.

You may not be aware, but the rear hub motor on the OHM bikes were made by BionX who have since gone out of business, so you will have a high risk sourcing spares and after market support

That's too bad, it looked like a nice bike. I wonder if that will be reflected in their pricing? It would have to be a considerable drop to make it worthwhile.

OHM are very good bikes and apparently have a huge supply of parts. I bought an Elby bike with a BionX motor and I love it. I looked at OHM but they wouldn't budge on pricing so I passed, that was a few months back but things might have changed now though.

I like the looks of the Elby, a bit odd at first glance but as I get into figuring out what an electric bike is ane what they are used for, it makes sense. I see an electric bike for me as being, first of all, comfortable, green transportation. I also want it to look sensible with a bit of elegance. At first I wanted them to look like bicycles, but they aren't exactly bicycles, not completely. I remember digital cameras going throught the same growing pains. What exactly where they? Some of the earlier models had all sorts of wierd shapes and options.
