LMT’D brake sensor

Hi folks,

I believe that the LMT’D does not utilize a brake sensor/motor cutoff. Are there any safety considerations if approaching an obstacle while the motor is engaged, or is enough to simply stop pedaling and use the brakes and the motor will eventually spin down/disengage?
Thanks!

My LMT’D has a brake sensor/cutoff and it has worked fine so far. I’ll have to pay more attention as to what happens if I’m still pedaling and hitting the brake simultaneously, but I would guess the motor will re-engage because the torque sensor will sense the pedal movement.

Thanks Ric, the comments came from a video review that was based on a gen 1 model and maybe the brake sensor was added since.

I do not think the Tektro brakes on the LMT'D have a cutoff sensor. It is just a hydraulic line running from the brake handle to the caliper and no wires going to the controller. Once you stop pedaling or hitting the throttle the bike will just coast like a regular bicycle. I'm glad because it just adds more parts that can go wrong.

My LMT'd also has no brake/sensor motor cutoff. I'm certain as my Pace 500 has the same Trktro brakes and has a seperate wire to the controller. I'm glad the LMT'd has no cutoff because on the Pase 500, the cutoff went bad and I just unplugged it while I waited for a new one. And in the meantime I didn't notice as difference just like on the LMT'd. I think the LMT'd torque sensor shuts off the motor quickly but either way those brakes easily overpower the motor. Not a concern.

I got confused as I ordered a 500 series for my wife and they have the electronic motor cutoff on the brakes. Just got back from a quick ride and when I stopped pedaling the torque sensor disengaged the motor and started to coast. Since I typically stop pedaling when I brake I was confusing the torque disengaging the motor vs brake cutoff. I did discover that the brakes work really well when I was flying down a hill and realized I was about to blow through a stop sign.
