Listings on HAIBIKE US website

Hi all!

So just poking around different website for when i buy my next ebike in about maybe a year or two from now. Haibike is one of those that i'm looking into, with specialized, trek and giant since my i have some LBS who are dealers of one of these 4.

But while looking up bikes on the Haibike website, I noticed bikes i've seen reviewed/talked about that isn't in the website. The USA website to be precise. I even checked the LBS that carry them and they only have what is basically listed on the US website. Is there a reason for this? Are the bikes i'm looking for out of production so they aren't listed?
 
As with most other manufacturers, whether it be bike or automobile, they market and sell different models for different regions. Haibike is very popular in Europe so they have pretty much all models including the Flyon series, albeit with 25kmh restricted motors. Even if you order from European vendor, my guess is that it will come with the restricted motor.

I owned two Haibikes (currently own the 2020 Sduro Trekking 4.0) and can attest that they are solid, well built, reliable brand.

If your timeline is 2 years out, I think it’s way to early to be exploring models since things can change drastically year to year.
 
Very limited models are coming to America. Could just be heading the same direction as BH. I would be a Haibike rider for life. I ride two different ones now. Both 28mph versions and those are basically nonexistent now. With 4,500 miles on one, and 3,500 miles on the other, I may just have to keep them up and buy replacement electrical components when they go bad.

Still feels odd when i see something that used to be sold in the US no longer being listed but still listed in other countries.

Nah, i don't think it's too early. I do it all the time! When i got a new car, i was already looking at what i would get when i paid it off and used it as a down payment. When i got a new laptop or phone, i keep on browsing for newer models! Nothing wrong with starting early. lol

I'm hoping the bring another 28mph trekking bike. If not then I'll be debating between Spoecialized's Vado, Trek's Allant+ or whatever their future equivalent/sucessors to these models are. Maybe i should look into Bulls. The LBS that carries Haibike also carries Bulls, but in limited supply so i never really looked into them. Next nearest LBS with bulls is a plane away (from hawaii lol)
 
The Haibike USA lineup looks to have had a sharp cutback in models brought into the US compared to several years ago when the company corporate office was run by Susanne Puello. I like to check in on the USA site to see what is going on and have noticed some models will be out of stock, some sizes out of stock. Not long ago, they had the 29 mph Bosch powered Trekking series, now it's gone, replaced by the lower priced Yamaha versions.

I see that Motorcycles 508 has the Trekking S in the low step frame version; as I also believe ebay still might have a few. This is the Bosch powered 28mph Trekking bike, which I also believe has the capability of piggybacking a 500wh external battery to go along with the Bosch InTube battery.

I kinda wonder if Haibike USA is going to go with Yamaha power exclusively on their US Trekking series of models from here on out. Can't go wrong there, but the ability to carry 1000wh with you is not there on those Yamaha 2020 Trekking models.

Good luck and let us know what you end up doing. I'm a very happy Haibike rider myself and can't ever see wanting to go with another bike manufacturer as these are well made, well specced out bikes with great value and exemplary performance and longevity!

Well, i'll give them a year or two and see if it gets any better. I got to try a haibike at my LBS and it was great. It just looks so solid and i love the smaller and slightly fatter tire, while not being a fat tire. The only thing is that it was only a class 1. i will be using it for commuting to work and having that extra 8mph would be great to getting to work a little quicker and possibly less sweaty lolol

If not haibike, i might go for a specialized vado. Maybe the SL model. (Love the idea of how light it is lol) or treks allant+ 9.9s. trek might be ahead right now just because the LBS dealer is the closest.

I think a lot of people misunderstand what the 28mph motor does. It takes a lot of effort to reach that speed even with the motor and even more effort to sustain it. You have to remember that it’s a bike not a moped.

I own both 28mph and 20mph Haibikes and with both of them I usually never go over 20mph.

I'm always going over 20mph when i commute to work. I usually average around 24mph and feel like i'm not even trying. On good days i think my derailleur is messed up or something because of how easy it is to pedal and maintain 24+. i check and i am on the smallest gear lol. So for me 28mph to not sweat as much and get to work a bit quicker is definitely a sound argument. Honestly, i think i'm only sweating because of my backpack carrying all my stuff. i should definately figure out at way to strap it on my rear rack. Than or buy a pannier. maybe make my rides cooler and easier.

I too often get above 20mph. Usually 22-23mph. But I do agree that 28 takes some effort, especially on any grade at all.

Wha bike do you ride for commuting where you can reach 24 without trying? Just curious because I certainly can’t on any Bosch or Yamaha motors. So either, you’re in really great shape or you’re riding some bike with 1000+ watt motor.

Raises hand. Hitting 28 mph without breaking a sweat is priceless. Although my watt meter shows ~750W, so not sure you need a 1000+ watt motor (750W nominal is plenty). 250W nominal / 500W peak doesn't cut it though.

Cheap-o hub motor ebike lol. sorry forgot to mention i'm 35 in the military. cardio wise i like to think i'm fit. physique wise, it would be good for me to lay off the big macs a bit lol. I usually on a spinning machine on my speed/sprint workouts at the gym so i'm used to it a bit. Got a bike to save money on gas (hawaii prices suck) and do some other types of cardio other than running cuz i'm starting to get bored. lol Turbo to work, roughly about 10 miles. Batterry is nearly dead because a mile strech that has a bit of an incline and strong head wind at the same time. drops me to 17mph and i'm grinding. peak HR and sweating. rest to smooth sailing and sweat drys by the time i'm at work. drop to eco on the way back to get a workout and that incline with head wind becomes an decline backwind. but i explore to extend my ride and get a good cardio workout. my steel toe boots and uniform in my backpack really adds a bit of weight on me lol
