Lectric XP replacement charging cable

Recently the ground prong on my charging cable for my Lectric XP came off. They said it's under "wear and tear" so they won't send a replacement. This is honestly like the 6th time I charged this bike since I got it. I only had this bike for 5 months and I just take it around the block every two to three weeks.... Anyway. Lectric wants to charge me the full $60 for a replacement charging cable and brick because they do not sell the cable separately.

The different options I am looking at:
1. Can I use a different cable, say 7A 125V from my laptop to charge?
2. Does anyone know where I can buy a direct replacement E306012 10A 250V?
3. Cut off the damaged plug and replace it with this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Leviton-15-Amp-125-Volt-3-Wire-Plug-Orange-R51-515PV-0OR/205165505

Thank you in advance!

3 Prong Mickey Mouse Universal AC Power Cord”

it’s a different connector into the DC converter than a typical computer cable…. the cord end is carved away around the cord end into an extruded mickey mouse ears. 🤣

Yes, just the cable because that is the only part that is damaged.

Yea, so my laptop cable is in the exact same shape like mickey mouse, lol. It's just the voltage is different.

If the fault is on the AC mains side of the charging brick, your idea to just cut it off and put a new plug on is a good solution. But if your laptop or any other device has the same connector that will fit into the connector on the charger, use it. A cord with an IEC connector is just a cord. There is nothing special about a piece of wire that has the same connectors. This is for use on the AC mains side of course. Every manufacturer seems to have their own connector on the DC side that connects to the battery.

At work, I have a bin full of cords from old computers and equipment. They tend to breed faster than rabbits.

If you cut the plug off to replace it, connect the brown or black wire to the brass colored screw on the new plug, the white or blue wire goes to the silver screw, and the green or yellow one to the green screw.

Black-white-green =North American wire colors
Brown-Blue-Yellow (sometimes with a green stripe) =Everywhere else wire colors.
