Largest eBike Gathering in the US so far.

So last weekend, I participated in a gathering that can be termed as the largest eBike gathering in the US so far (except the Interbike and Eurobike). Over 130 people participated in that event and most of them had brought in their ebikes along with them and it was a lot of fun.

It was organized by Crazy Lenny eBikes and for people who purchased eBikes from their store. Hearing about each other’s war stories and success stories, it was clear in everyone’s mind that eBikes are the way to go.

I purchased my Neo Jumper 650B from him back in December 2013 and he offered me a great price and service on that. He has been equally generous in offering such amazing price and excellent customer service to many friends here on EBR and elsewhere. I had never met him in person and it was a great visit. Everyone at the event had a nice time. [Some beer, wine and excellent pizza.]

What I liked in his store was the sheer number of floor bikes available for test rides and friendly staff.

Later on, Len took up the ALS Ice bucket challenge [video].

Thoughts on trustworthy dealers:

In my experience of talking to and keenly observing many eBike dealers, I find them to be like car dealership. Some are good but many of them just bluff and simply parrot the brochure. They are here to make maximum profit and it is our duty to think critically and research carefully before making such a large purchase. I can name a handful of genuine dealers and he is one of them (Other top tier stores being…. The Newwheel in San Francisco, Long Island Electric Bikes in NY, Electric Bike Specialists in TN and Pete’s Electric Bikes in CO).

Thank you for taking the time to post those Ravi and for the giving us a glimpse in to what Len and his staff are all about. Beer, wine and (good) pizza..it appears that Len obviously knows how to treat his customers right. I can't get over his inventory! For the amount we spend on these bikes it would definitely be worth the trip if he is allowing test rides to boot.
I talked to Len on the phone a few times, we had some shipping issues (not their fault) and he took care of everything in the end. I feel a debt of gratitude to both Ravi and Len for making our bike purchase happen. I know that we wouldn't have purchased what we did on our budget without either of them and the whole affair honestly changed our lives for the better.

I have a great experience with Lenny's Electric bikes. I purchased a Stromer Platinum from Lenny. My wife uses the bike and loves it very much. There are no Stromer dealers in my state so I took a risk and bought from Lenny. I consider any large purchase from someone outside of my own state a risky proposition. Lenny came highly recommended and after speaking to him on the phone I felt good energy and placed the order.

The Stromer arrived to much fanfare, we put it together and then tried to open the battery door. The key went into the keyhole but would not turn, to make matters worse the key could not be extracted. No matter what we tried the door could not be opened, the key could not be turned.From then the series of events were almost like comedy of errors. My son ended up twisting the key hard and broke it off with half of the key stuck in the keyhole. I took the bike to the best locksmith in town and they ended up extracting the entire lock yet still could not open the battery door. So here I was. Stuck in Maine with a 60 lb paperweight. I placed a call to Stromer (then in Boston) and left a message. When a call wasn't returned in 2 days I called again, this time getting through. The person on the other end was almost irritated when I asked him if they heard my voice mail and if they usually return calls back. Then after I retold my story I was met with a condescending tone and an answer that it is impossible for the door to be stuck, that they inspect every bike they send out. Then he told me to go back to my dealer. I placed a call to Lenny's technician, we went through of series of trials and errors with no luck. The door could not be opened. Something was seriously wrong with the door. To make a long story short, Lenny was always positive, supportive and ended up sending me a brand new bike replacement. What a guy.

Dealing with Lenny restored my faith in using a dealer from far away. He came through and never left me feeling like I'm forgotten. I would buy from Lenny again in a heartbeat.

When one looks at what Len did (above) and what Larry is doing at the MTB 'summit' within the same week...I'd say that we're all pretty lucky to have such dedicated and passionate individuals promoting our way of getting around.

It was wonderful and Len was a through and through gentleman and he even loaned me a bike to explore the city for two days. Yes, his floor bike inventory is massive. Close to 50 bikes for test riding.
Haibikes, Easy Motion, Stromer etc.
He is bringing in Felt or Grace and Focus bikes. If you you do make a trip in about a month, you could test ride some really nice bikes.

Thanks to people like him and reviewers like Court. The eBike market is changing for good.
