Lack of information on Bosch motors after warranty runs out

Hi I never got it wet the problem is the bearings I have the contact details for bearing repair. Price is £270 . Then there’s the gear chain on the rear wheel to be sorted my guess is another few hundred pounds . So my e bike has not been good value for money .
Do you just insist on ignoring me and Mike? The video I sent the link for and the shop are both about bearing issues. Your problem is you insist on complaining and not listening to good advice. As I said I've had way more experience than you and I'm thrilled with Bosch. I encourage everyone to buy Bosch that will listen to me.

Hey Dallant - my own brother had the motor replaced and not someone who made a comment on a website. Your experience is hardly comprehensive and saying that your experience differs really means nothing at all as you should realize but evidently do not.

No way am I going to put $5,000 into a bike with a Bosch drive unit anymore than I would put $50,000 into a Mercedes Benz vehicle. I evaluate the risk and the experiences of others and respond accordingly and do not blindly drink the Kool-Aid.

Yup Elfman, I don’t believe the Toyota story. And even if something remotely like it did happen, there’s a whole lot more to the story than you’re telling that is certainly outside their normal warranty. Maybe your brother bought 2 or three extended Toyota warranties in a row. Trying to equate your Toyota story (that certainly isnt any kind of standard Toyota warranty story) to Bosch is just ridiculous. That’s like saying Bosch (or any other ebike company) would have it in their warranty to replace an ebike motor after 30k miles. You don’t want to put $5k in the kitty, then move along as there are plenty who will and will have great success in doing so.

Except for safety most companies avoid recalls. Sometimes quality issues slip thru the cracks so the manufacturer will often do a good-will repair. Known issue but not really common. Toyota has had head gasket issues with both V6 and V8 motors. Dealers are aware of this and the good dealers will contact Toyota. My neighbor had their Tundra engine replaced.

I work in tech support and we do this sometimes if we see something during failure analysis. Maybe a problem in a handful of units, cheaper than recalling 10,000 of them.

It seems like less of a Bosch problem, more of a dealer who might treat their customers better. Split the cost of the repair maybe.
